We are having the worst freaking weather EVER here in France… I actually have never seen such a horrible month of May, it’s been so cold and raining almost everyday and it is just NOT POSSIBLE ANYMORE. If it doesn’t stop anytime soon, you are probably going to assist to the death of all French people due to massive depression and lack of sunshine… And I do not wish that to happen…
Besides, non stop rain is a real pain when it comes to life organization : I can’t get my dog out as much as I’d like, it ruins my hair as soon as I wash it, it deprives us all from entire days of Roland Garros matches, and mainly it prevents me to shoot what I need to shoot. Rain has always been my worst pet peeve as a photographer : besides keeping me from goint out as I’d like and dressing up as I’d want, the humidity and very weak light during the few minutes when it doesn’t rain are the worst conditions to take pictures. And don’t even get me started on my appartment, which is usually pretty bright but instantly transforms as a mortuary cave with this kind of weather… So we ended up taking these pictures during a 5 minutes rain break, I decided to go with a sailor outfit to stay in tune with this humid atmosphere…
I guess you’re starting to know me a bit : marine themed pieces are my all time favorites.
So, I also guess you can imagine how crazy I got when I stumbled upon this awesome sweater on Petit Bateau Instagram account a few months ago… But at that time, I was trying to be serious with my expenses, and my dressing was overflowed, so the good girl I was did not buy it then.
I’m pretty sure you do that too sometimes. Like you’re trying to resist really hard to something you really like and it ends up haunting you for months. If the piece ever gets sold out, it’s almost like you have to grieve for a while and all. Anyway, I hope I’m not the only one !
But on this case, I was lucky : the sweater stayed in store and on the website.
So, by Christmas, around the time I made my little wishlist, I just put it there very innocently and let things go by themselves. The thing is I got completely over-spoiled (see my Xmas haul) and that I got almost everything that was on my wishlist, except for that sweater.
I did not take this as a sign and ended up buying it for myself. Since then, I’ve been wearing it almost all day everyday. That’s the good thing about resisting sometimes, it’s the best way to confirm or infirm your crush. It’s also a risk you have to take, but when it does pay off, it’s the best feeling 🙂
Since we’ve together, my honey and I have unintendedly established a annual or bi-annual ritual (it all depends on our financial situation, really !), it’s a weekend in Normandy as soon as it’s start getting gloomy in Paris.
We are lucky enough to only have a two hours drive between us and Normandy and its lovely ocean. And I have to say, right after the stress of getting back to work in September, it just feels so great ! And Joey will never disagree with this !
We usually head to Trouville or Honfleur, my favorite cities (I actually talked about it in this article) but this year, we decided to visit Dieppe, but mainly because we had to see some friends around there. We did not know this city at all, so it was a good occasion to discover the place, I’ll talk about it some more around here on thursday with some pictures of our weekend !
Despite the grayness, the cold and the mist we had there (by the way, I caught a MASSIVE cold there, but I must admit I did jump in the waves like a child and ended up with a footbath inside my boots… what a smart girl am I, huh ?!) we still enjoyed the empty beach and managed to shoot an circumstancial outfit !
