Between my latest articles and all of my Instagram pictures from the last three weeks, you probably ended up knowing that I am in vacations in the South of France (yes, it is the kind of news I like to be putting ahead, don’t you ?!)
To be honest, by the time you’re reading this article, I’m probably on my way back to Paris, crying all the tears that my body has to offer… But anyway…
It’s so sad, the coming back part after the vacation part. It seems like autumn is already here, you get back to your daily routine, working, sleeping, then working again, and you desperately think about the next time you’ll be able to get away… The worst part is when you think to yourself “exactly one week ago from today, I had my ass down in the pool”. It’s the sadest thing ever…
Therefore, I felt like making the vacations last longer around here, with some pictures I took in Hyères and while we were boat riding in the rocky inlets from La Ciotat & Cassis.
Also, if you are following me on Instagram you probably know that I left the South of France on monday to spend two days in the Bardenas Reales desert in Spain, so stay tuned for there’s an exotic article coming around here (and there will be a vlog too, just saying) !
And if you’re planning on going to Hyères or La Ciotat, scroll to see all about my favorite places over there, I’m telling all about it after the pics !
Aaah, the South of France ! Its amazing weather, its crickets, its sea and its bbqs ! It’s my little summer paradise !
If you followed a bit what’s been happening on my Instagram, you know I just got there for 3 full weeks, and it’s already being a pure bliss !
For the pure Parisian I am, the South of France is like a whole other country. Even if I’ve been coming there every year since I was born, I am always so happy to be there, it’s my little corner of good times and as soon as it starts getting hot in Paris, I can’t wait to leave the city and its tourists to get back to my dear South.
And every year, I go look for small provincial villages around my place where I’m sure I’ll come across an array of grandpas chit-chatting under a plane-tree and lots of cats napping in the sun on every street corner, I go to the local marketplace fill up with regional products to treat everyone for lunch, I go stroll around the harbours of coastal towns and watch the boats coming and going while eating a crêpe or an ice-cream, I go drive at sunset on small winding roads across golden fields burnt by the sun, or I just lay by the pool under the shadow of a tree with a fresh beer and fall asleep while listening to the cicadas… These are all the things that make me love the South of France as much as I do and that make me come back every year.
Even if this year, I’m still working a bit every day, which I was not doing the last few years, I can’t compare working on my desk with the sounds of ambulances sirens in Paris and working on the garden table with the sounds of cicadas here in the South of France.
And then, the other we were talking about finding the perfect spot to shoot, and over there it’s quite the paradise ! Just like this small simple courtyard we found while not looking for it, just strolling around the desertic streets of an old village, pure happiness !
